This little scenic farming town is tucked away in the foothills of the Stormberg Mountains in the northern reaches of the Eastern Cape. The words ‘surprise’, ‘pleasure’ and ‘variety’ come to mind as you peruse an array of coffee shops, museums and Anglo-Boer War memorials - to both the Boers and Brits alike. On a hill overlooking the town is a blockhouse (defensive position) from the war.

The 413 ha De Berg Nature Reserve above the small town is well stocked with large game species such as blesbok, red hartebeest, black wildebeest, kudu, zebra and springbuck.

Burgersdorp is a perfect place for hikers, fisherman, museum nuts, and for you ghost hunters, why not stalk the De Bruin House. On the hiking trails you will find superb San (Bushman) rock art left behind by the ‘First South Africans’. These San cave dwellings provide wonderful, visual, artistic evidence of their lives and their visions.
