Cedarberg Guest Farm

Cedarberg Guest Farm is situated between Kokstad and Matatiele at the foothills of the most Southern Drakensberg-Maluti mountain range. Our main aim is to offer the city-dweller an escape from the hustle and bustle of their everyday life. Here on the farm the peace and quiet will probably keep you awake the first night, just to be woken the next morning by many birds and farm sounds.

We cater for all, but families or groups planning a reunion or a get together will find us to be the ideal venue. Our old farm shed has been converted into a quaint function venue suitable for weddings (up to 200 people), conferences and workshops. Our summers are mild and winters quite cold, with snow often on the mountains and sometimes even on the farm. Accommodations consists of the Cedarhoek farm house and five other cottages. There is a log cabin for couples wanting a romantic getaway with a beautful view of the garden, dams and valley. There are camping facilities with electric points available. Cedarberg Guest Farm is a pet friendly establishment.

Cedarville is close to three mountain passes with border posts into Lesotho which make the farm a perfect base to explore this lesser known section of the Drakensberg and southern Lesotho. The 4x4 enthusiast or adventure motorbiker will not believe their luck when they take the time to discover the surrounding area. On the farm many jeep tracks may be used and whilst testing your skill and vehicle, game viewing can also be enjoyed. Our horseriding and guided outrides on the farm are very popular.

Zebra, Red hartebeest, Blesbuck, common Reedbuck, mountain Reedbuck, Grey Duiker, as well as the endangered Oribi can be seen. Recently we had some surprising newcomers when three unplanned ‘Zebra-Hinnies’ or ‘Donkras’ where born from zebra mares and a donkey stallion. Birders will often reach for their binoculars with many grassland and wetland specialist species found on the farm and in the area. All three crane species can be seen on the Cedarville flats, sometimes in the same location.
