Croydon Cottage and The Verandah B & B are an intimate farm stay situated on Croydon Farm, 7 km from Steynsburg in the Karoo Heartland. Hosts Glenn and Roz look forward to welcoming you to Croydon Cottage, a little piece of Heaven where the earth meets the sky. Wake up to the sound of “peace”, a place of quiet beauty and glorious views. Come and share the Karoo fresh air, relax and be refreshed.

Each of the B and B rooms have a comfortable double bed with crispy white linen sheets and a warm down duvet for the winter months. The rooms are fitted with a kettle, toaster, microwave and fridge for your convenience. A Continental breakfast is served on the verandah during the summer months and in the cosy dining area for the chilly winter mornings. A full English breakfast is available on request. Karoo lamb dinners (by prior arrangement) are available and will be served to you on the verandah or in the cosy dining area. The perfect setting to enjoy a glass of wine or two...

The living area leads to an outdoor area where guests can ensure a restful retreat enjoying the beautiful Karoo sunsets. The private braai (barbeque) facility and pool area for guests to use is nestled in a beautiful garden setting. Braai packs of the best Karoo lamb are available.

The organic veggie garden is for those kindred spirits who value freshly picked, healthy organically grown food, in their own corner of God’s little green acre. A time-honoured tradition of growing what we eat and eating what we grow. It’s about our passion in a summer-scented garden – it’s about our lifestyle. Take a stroll through the garden and enjoy Mother Nature at her best!

Croydon Farm is home to happy Sussex cows and bulls. Farmer Glenn will gladly show you his prize cattle and his wagon wheel grazing system. You can just chill out on the farm and enjoy true Karoo hospitality. If you seek adventure, there’s tons of things to do in and around the farm in Steynsburg.

For the not so faint hearted, there is are quad or motor bike, mountain bike and hiking trails that will take you up mountains and into valleys. Why not stop for a while? Just be still... perhaps you will be lucky enough to see the majestic Black Eagle souring above the cliffs looking for dassies on the ridges below. Hunting, river rafting and wild trout fishing in the area can also be arranged.

The amazing bird sanctuary located on the farm is a tranquil spot filled with waterbirds, finches and kestrels. In the evening you can watch how the wild birds fly in to nest and how each one finds their little place called “home”, woven to their specifications. This is a must for avid birdwatchers and keen photographers. As the light of day fades and the dark evening skies are lit up by a million stars, look up and enjoy the amazing visual spectacle of God’s creation. Feel the calm and peacefulness wash over you…
