The oldest road classic cycling race in South Africa is also one of the prettiest with picturesque and challenging routes from Pietermaritzburg to Durban. There is something for everyone and cyclists can choose between the fun 35km ride, the more challenging 65km or the renowned 106km Classic.

For the past 40 years, car enthusiasts from all over South Africa have flocked to the annual Cars in the Park event. This event is all about celebrating the classic, the elegant, the quirky and the unique when it comes to vehicles of all shapes, sizes and stats.

Enjoy amazing and eventful return steam train rides from Creighton, alongside the Ngogwaan River, through thousands of beautiful aloes. These rides include birding and mission tours including local choirs and artists, hot air balloon excursions, a scenic cycle, a trail run, delicious meals and even a country market.

The Cradock Community welcomes all paddlers, their seconds and family to enjoy a fun filled week-end in the Karoo. The Fish River Canoe Marathon takes place in Cradock every year at the end of September or the beginning of October.

The Karoo Food Festival offers more than just culinary attractions: mountain biking, cultural and historical walks and drives, the nearby excellent Mountain Zebra Park, farm visits and a lively two-day market offering the best that we produce and our town is proud of its hospitality.

After running through town the athletes tackle the mountain by following the old Lesotho trek path to the highest point in the challenge at approximately the 11km mark. From there the tower path leads athletes to the top of on of the highest mountain pass in South Africa, the Joubert’s Pass.

The annual Matat2Pont is our marquee event, which attracted thousands of spectators and viewers of the live broadcasts on social media last year. The event was founded by Dean Riley after the 2014 Matat National Enduro when he called up fellow enthusiast Sakkie Maartens, they wanted to share their passion and excitement for the sport with other riders and expose them to some incredible routes in the area.

The Midmar Mile is a swimming race held annually in February at the Midmar Dam north of Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. Each year, it draws thousands of competitors, from serious international athletes and Olympic medallists to purely recreational swimmers.

The annual family fun ride is at the Richmond Country Club which is some of the best riding terrain in KZN. Come along and have a great day out for the whole family - all for a good cause!! There will be breakfast rolls available early in the morning with full catering and bar facilities all day.... all you need to do is bring your bike!
